I tell stories through design.

Bree Rawn is a queer, non-binary Graphic Designer and Illustrator living and working in Toronto. They specialize in branding, merch design and production, print and digital illustration concepts. Bree works on a full time freelance basis, priding themselves on working closely with clients to build and strategize tailored solutions to design problems.

Bree’s work sits at the intersection of graphic design, illustration and visual culture. Maximalist, super illustrative, colourful with hints of nostalgia that engage the viewer in a friendly way. Using clear composition, expressive typography and subtle references to past graphic styles their work conveys a sense of storytelling.

Having been interested in visual art from a young age, building a creative community through design always felt like a natural path. Bree started freelancing on a DIY basis for friends and bands who needed logos or tattoos in high school, while attending every art class available. It wasn’t until they moved to Toronto to study graphic design formally at George Brown that they found a space where they could connect more easily with other artists and creatives. Their interest in visual communication as a career led them to seek out like-minded people through school, studios and personal projects.

Professionally, Bree has made a career working primarily in illustrative design. Coming out of George Brown they worked at Visible Media, an independent studio with large-scale clients such as Astral Media, Disney’s Family Channel and eBay. From there Bree moved to Totem Content, creating editorial illustrations and print layouts for CAA Magazine and Acura.

After experiencing both the digital and print side of the design industry Bree started working in-house at Dine Alone Records. This move spurred a turning point in Bree’s career. Utilizing their experience in both digital design and print layout, Bree became responsible for the bulk of in-house design work. Creating branding, custom posters for events and bands as well as designing and producing all the label’s merchandise. While at Dine Alone Bree found the opportunity to build an artistic practice, refining their personal illustration style and understanding the strategy behind branded visual language.
